These terms and conditions apply to the products and services, available for purchase via www.swtafe.vic.edu.au

Making Payment

When a South West TAFE Short Course product or service is paid for, the customer must activate the tick box accepting the terms and conditions in order to proceed to payment. By doing this, the customer acknowledges that he/she accepts South West TAFE terms and conditions. Any queries can be directed to:

Declaration

By accepting South West TAFE terms and conditions, it is understood that the customer acknowledges that, to the best of their knowledge and belief, the information provided is correct and complete and that they agree to be bound by the rules and regulations of South West TAFE.

The customer understands that:

South West TAFE is required to provide the Victorian Government, through Higher Education and Skills Group (HESG) with student and training activity data which may include information I provide in this enrolment form. Information is required to be provided in accordance with the Victorian VET Student Statistical Collection Guidelines (which are available at www.education.vic.giv.au/documents/training/providers/rto/vetstag2014.pdf ). HESG may use the information provided to it for planning, administration, policy development, program evaluation, resource allocation, reporting and/or research activities. For these and other lawful purposes, HESG may also disclose information to its consultants, advisers, other government agencies, professional bodies and/or other organisations. The Education and Training Reform Act 2006 requires South West TAFE to collect and disclose my personal information for a number of purposes including the allocation to me of a Victorian Student Number and  updating my personal information on the Victoria Student Register.

There is a possibility of receiving an NCVER survey and/or an invitation to participate in a Department endorsed project and/or being contacted by the Department (or persons authorised by the department) for audit or review purposes.

The customer also agrees to:

-       Authorise the release of information concerning student records to any Government department, providing confidentiality is assured

-       Pay all fees and charges applicable to and arising from the enrolment

-       Abide by the student Standards of Behavior and the rules and regulations of South West TAFE during the enrolment – these can be found on the South West TAFE website

-       Is aware that the program they are enrolling in may be rescheduled if unforeseen circumstances arise

-       Understands that it is their responsibility to provide all relevant and required documentation.

Third Party Disclosure

Unless you provide the Institute with written permission, we are unable to provide your employer, school or any other third party with a copy of your Statement of Attainment and/ or Certification, even if they have paid for your enrolment. If your require the Institute to provide a copy of your certification to your employer, school or another third party please complete the form 'Authority to Issue Documentation to a Third Party' made available to you at the commencement of your short course and return the completed and signed form to the trainer. The form is also available from the Student Lounge at www.swtafe.vic.edu.au.

Who Can Enrol?

Date of birth details are required for all courses booked via www.swtafe.vic.edu.au

Unless specified, no other prerequisites are necessary for courses.

Children

Due to occupational health and safety factors, persons under the age of 16 years are not permitted to attend courses, unless written consent is received from a parent/guardian.

Prices

We reserve the right to change prices without notice. All courses/products not determined as Training for Work or 'education' will include GST (Goods & Services Tax Act 1998) in the advertised price.

Confirmation of Booking

A confirmation of enrolment will be emailed to participants prior to course commencement. Purchasers will receive a tax invoice/receipt as an attachment to the order payment confirmation email. Bookings (orders) are not confirmed until payment is received.

Attendance

Attendance is expected to be 100%. Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to course commencing. Participants arriving later than 15 minutes past scheduled start time will be REFUSED ENTRY into the course and will need to transfer to another date. Transfer charges will apply.

Transfers, Cancellations or Refunds

To be eligible for a refund associated with Short Courses, the following cancellation/withdrawal conditions apply: 

-       More than 5 business days prior to course commencement date

  • A $20 administration fee applies

-       Less than and including 5 business days prior to course commencement date

  • No refund- transfer to the next available identical course may be requested ( $20 Administration fee will apply)
  • A $20 administration fee will be charged for 2nd and subsequent transfers.

-       Course commencement date and after

  •  No refund/No transfer/No substitutions

-       Course rescheduled by South West TAFE

  •  If new course date not suitable to student - Full refund- ( with  No Admin Fees)

Approved Corporate/Business clients can substitute/transfer an enrolment in the same course, up to 24hrs prior to the commencement date.

If a student is unable to officially cancel/withdraw within the timelines required for a refund due to extenuating circumstances they should contact the Short Course Coordinator within 10 business days of the course commencement date. Each case will be considered individually.

Course Reschedules

If unforeseen circumstances arise, South West TAFE may need to reschedule Short Course dates. When possible, students will be advised no later than 48 hours prior to the scheduled course commencement date and given the option to transfer dates at no cost, or be issued with a full refund.

Gift Vouchers & Course Vouchers

Gift vouchers are for a specified nominal amount and may be used for the purchase of select Short Courses only. They may not be used for services from other retail outlets within South West TAFE (e.g. Bookshop, Café, Pure Beauty Salon), or transferred to other South West TAFE training.

Course vouchers are for a specified and named short course only and cannot be transferred.

Gift or Course Vouchers may not be used for Victorian Government Funded Short Courses.

No refunds will be issued for short courses purchased using a voucher.

Gift & Course Voucher Expiry

South West TAFE gift and course vouchers must be used within 12 months of date of issue.

Gift & Course Voucher Delivery

All South West TAFE gift/course vouchers are delivered via email. South West TAFE is not liable or responsible for any loss suffered as a result of a voucher via email being blocked by filters or firewalls, or where the incorrect email address has been entered by the purchaser.

If the recipient does not receive the emailed voucher, please contact us immediately on 1300 648 911 to arrange alternative delivery.

Dress

Due to occupational health and safety factors it is recommended that comfortable and suitable clothing be worn, however participants should check each course for specific requirements. Participants may be refused entry if their attire is not acceptable for OH&S reasons. 

Accredited Courses & Credits

Participants who successfully complete nationally recognised accredited units/training will be issued with a Statement of Attainment, which may lead to credit in other programs.

Assessment

The successful completion of all nationally recognised courses requires demonstration of competence to workplace standard in all the requirements of that course. Some flexibility is available to allow for differing training situations. The course trainer will provide information about the assessment process.

A range of assessment practices are used to assess competency including:

  • Individual and group assignments
  • Case studies
  • Practical demonstrations
  • Practical experience
  • Interviews
  • Written questions
  • Presentations

A Statement of Attainment will be provided to those people who successfully complete the units of competency or accredited units.

In the first instance you should contact or approach the Short Course Coordinator if you are unhappy with any aspect of the courses or services provided by the Institute.

Feedback

At the end of your course you will be given the opportunity to complete a survey providing feedback on the course content, facilities, teacher/trainer and general comment. We appreciate the requests and feedback provided to us as it enables us to assess the training and services we are providing and ensure that it meets your needs.

Member Communications

By signing up as a member to the Short Courses website, you agree to receive email and SMS text communications from South West TAFE. These communications can be unsubscribed from via the ‘unsubscribe’ or ‘opt-out’ option on each communication.

Privacy Policy

South West TAFE acknowledges its obligation to comply with the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic) as detailed in its policy statement that can be found at www.swtafe.vic.edu.au

Use of Images

South West TAFE will only use your image, references and/or quotes obtained from you with your permission and do so only in accordance with the Institute’s Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer

Every effort has been made to ensure that the information published is correct. South West TAFE reserves the right to change course schedules, locations, fees and trainers if and when necessary. All attempts will be made to provide appropriate notification to enrolled students.
