Description

SAFE & EFFECTIVE CATTLE ARTIFICAL INSEMINATION

Broaden your knowledge to improve pregnancy rates

The program will be delivered over three days, with face-to-face classes being held at Glenormiston Training Facility and one practical on farm session. It will consist of theory-based delivery as well as practical training using Bovine simulation equipment at Glenormiston and practice on live animals on farm. The program will conclude with live insemination training and final assessment. Learners are expected to complete all learning modules, attend face to face course activities and undertake an informal assessment to determine their suitability to progress to live animal training and assessment.

Students will complete 6 hours of pre reading online prior to Face to Face delivery. There will be 2 days of 8 hours Face to Face delivery of the theory and practical application of knowledge using simulation equipment. This will be followed by Online reading and completion of the study module on SWTAFE Online. Students will then do live inseminations of approximately 6 hours. A practical day of 8 hours training and assessment on live cattle at either Breed'n Betsy Byaduk or the learners own farm, to be undertaken at least 2 weeks following Face to face delivery to ensure learners have the opportunity to practice skills learnt from simulation training on their own live animals prior to the final live animal assessment.

Please note the timeframe from Face to Face training may vary dependent on the availability of live animals to be inseminated.

Confirmation of your place will be made after a phone interview with one of the teaching staff.
