Upon your booking, you will be required to complete the following before class:
- A Pre-Training Review (PTR) and Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Quiz (the link will be sent upon booking)
You must complete the above before attending class. You will not receive any certification until both online and practical components are completed.

Enrolment Requirements:
- You must complete a compulsory pre-training review and language, literacy and numeracy quiz (PTR/LLN) before attending class.
Prior to your enrolment a PTR/LLN review will be conducted with you to confirm that the course you are seeking to enrol into meets your individual needs. The link will be emailed to you upon your booking. Failure to complete the pre-training review before class will incur a $20 administration fee for a booking cancellation or transfer.
- You must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to enrol in an accredited course. You can apply or get more information at www.usi.gov.au.
- Photo identification (including your date of birth) must be provided when sending back your signed Enrolment form

Description
PROFESSIONAL FOOD HANDLING
Gain a food handling qualification
Victoria’s food industry is strictly governed by a set of regulations, including the Food Act 1984. Anybody who works with food or runs a food-related business needs to be familiar with the relevant standards. This short course is designed around these standards to meet the requirements of the Food Act 1984.
Successful completion of this course will make you appropriately qualified to work in a food handling environment.
Accreditation
Upon successful completion, you’ll receive credit and certification for the following accredited unit from SIT30821 - Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
SITXFSA005 - Use hygienic practices for food safety
After achieving the unit SITXFSA005 Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety (Safe Food handling short course) learners could extend their skills by enrolling in SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol or SITXFSA002 Participate in Safe Food Handling (Food Safety for Supervisors). Learners could progress into SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality either as a trainee or on campus or SIT30816 Certificate III Commercial Cookery on campus or apprentice.
Enrolment Requirements
A Unique Student Identifier - you must have a USI when you enrol. You can apply for a USI online or get more information at www.usi.gov.au.
To study any nationally recognised training in Australia, you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Your USI links to an online account that contains your training records and all results for any training you’ve completed after 1 January 2015. With a USI you’ll always have easy access to your training records and results – this will simplify applying for jobs or enrolling in further study.
You will also need photo identification (including your date of birth).
